Today is International Women's Day - a global day established in the early 1900's celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women throughout history.

"International Women's Day" is all about unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy and action.

The Bible talks a lot about women and their uniqueness and priceless worth. God made it clear that women are not only important to Him but beautifully creations.

He calls them daughters of destiny.  Many people think that God is like humans, that He likes, loves  or prefers only the so called strong women. No, God actually likes, loves and prefers ALL women,  whether considered strong or weak in people’s eyes.

As we celebrate International Women's Day, let's take a look at Bible verses about women to better understand the special role that God has for all women - and incredible value He places on His daughters.

  • Ephesians 5:22-23

Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Saviour.

  • 1 Peter 3:1-2

Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behaviour of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.

  • Psalm 46:5

God is within her, she will not fall.

  • Luke 1:45

Blessed is she who believed that the Lord would fulfil His promises to her.

  • Pslam 139:14

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

  • Proverbs 31:10(b)

For her worth is far above rubies

  • Proverbs 31:25

She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.

These are just a few of what the Bible says about women, all women.

4 examples of women in the Bible who are considered good and were used by God:

1. Mary, the mother of Jesus - a servant of God

Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. Luke 1:38

2. Ruth- the Moabite - humble and contrite heart

She stayed with her mother-in-law, Naomi, after her husband died even when Naomi released her, an act that made history afterwards.

But Ruth said: “Entreat me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God. Where you die, I will die,And there will I be buried. The Lord do so to me, and more also, If anything but death parts you and me.” - Ruth 1:16-17

3. Esther - woman of faith and courage

Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish! Esther 4:16

4. Priscilla - woman of God: Apostle Paul’s missionary co-worker

Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus. Romans 16:3

4 examples of those who were not considered good but God made something out of them and used them:

1. The Samaritans woman - a sinful woman who became the Evangelist of her village.

Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony.  John 4:39

2. Mary Magdalene - 7 demons came out of her

Became a faithful disciple of Jesus; followed Him, till at the crucifixion. Prepared His body for burial. Luke 23:55-56

3. Rahab - the prostitute

Brave woman. She risked her life and hid the spies sent into Jericho by Joshua. By so doing, Joshua was ultimately able to conquer Jericho.  Joshua 2: 6

4. Bathsheba- the adulteress whom God chose to produce King David’s chosen son to build the Temple of God in Jerusalem.

Then David comforted his wife Bathsheba; he went and slept with her. She gave birth to a son and named him Solomon. The Lord loved him. 2 Samuel 12:24

Whether  seen as bad or good, God saw them as His Daughters.

Let’s celebrate and unite.

Love you all!!!!

P.S. I personally invite you to our own celebration on Saturday 10th March 2018 at 3pm, for more information click here.
