Domestic Violence Awareness (Video)

Domestic violence has always been in the forefront with many causes of mental illness. As you may know that during the lockdown, the prevalence of domestic violence went higher to a point where currently residential rescue missions have run out of available rooms to accommodate new arrivals.

As a mental health professional and working in the forefront of things, we have seen a rise in attendance to Emergency Department by those affected by domestic violence seeking help with their mental health. It has become apparent that society at large, is somehow not knowledgeable about recognising potential abusers and also the potential victims lack self awareness and tools that will help them avoid getting entangled in toxic relationships in the first place.

Prevention is always better than cure.

In this video, we attempted to illustrate potential abusive personalities as well as potential victim personalities, their characteristics and causes.

Disclaimer: We encourage our viewers to do their personal research and seek medical advice if any of these issues connect with you or a loved one. We also encourage you to speak with your local church and learn more about their support for domestic violence victims and mental health symptoms.
