Everlasting Life
From the beginning of creation, God intended for humanity to live. Death was not in the agenda. Man was created to live an everlasting life. God first created the first man Adam and placed him in the garden of Eden.
His job was to tend and guard the garden. God loved Adam very much. He created him out of a pure and holy place. He was the ‘pearl’ of His heart.
God then made all kinds of trees grow put of the garden. Trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. The Bible tells us that in the middle of the garden we’re two trees, the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
God gave a command for Adam;
“of every tree of the garden you may freely eat, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die” - Genesis 2:16-17 (NKJV)
Then God felt that it was not good for man to be alone and decided to make Adam what He called a “helper comparable to him” It was all good. God gave Adam Authority over everything that was in the garden. God gave him permission to name all the creatures He created. The beasts of the field, birds of the air and all living creatures, Adam named them.
The time came for God to provide Adam with the helper He promised him. He put Adam into a deep sleep, took one of his ribs and out of it He made a woman. God took the woman to Adam and Adam named her Eve.
Adam and Eve lived in the garden where God placed them. It was peaceful and they lived in harmony with all the creatures.
The relationship between God and Adam and his wife Eve was perfect. God could access them anytime. Communication between them flowed freely.
Then one day, satan came questioned Eve about the command God gave to Adam about not eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Eve told Satan what God said to her husband Adam about the tree and Satan deceived her and changed the command around and said;
you will not surely die, for God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil - Genesis 3:4-5 (NKJV)
The Bible says, Eve saw that the tree was good for food, pleasant to the eyes and desirable to make one wise, took of its fruit and ate it. Eve gave to Adam to eat too. After they had eaten of the fruit, their eyes were open , they realised they were naked and took leaves to cover themselves with.
That was the day sin was created in man and separation between man and God began.
When they heard God coming as usual to commune with them, they fled and hid themselves. God had to call Adam. And Adam replied and told God He was afraid because he was naked.God knew what happened. Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed Satan.
Humanity separated from God. Adam lost authority in the garden and Satan took it. Satan through the sin of Adam and Eve, had the right of access and control over humanity.
Adam and Eve not only lost control and authority but he lost dominion and death entered their lives as God told them.
John 3:16
It was not over with God. He looked with a painful heart as Satan took over the ‘ keys’ from Adam. As the relationship between Him and His beautiful created mankind broke up. He thought of a plan to bring them back to Him. The love God had for Adam was too strong to just look and say, ah well, he put himself in that situation, it’s his fault.
According to God’s law, a sacrifice was required to wipe away that sin Adam and Eve committed. God needed someone who hadn’t committed any sin, was not born out of union of man and woman to be that sacrifice.
He created His Son Jesus Christ, who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, but had to be born through a woman, live normal life on earth for sometime and then perform the greatest miracle of them all, that do washing away the sin of humanity.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. - John 3:16 (NKJV)
Jesus Christ was created for the sole purpose of ‘ buying’ humanity back from satan by washing away not only the original sin but all sins ever committed.
Jesus Christ died and rose again from the dead to conquer the spiritual death that was caused by the original sin of Adam and Eve that affected all humanity of every colour, creed, race, gender and all walks of life . All humanity is from Adam and Eve. All humanity is born sinners. We inherited sin nature that our forefathers, Adam and Eve acquired by sinning against God in the garden of Eden.
Jesus died and rose again to break that inheritance, to take back Adam’s authority from satan, to remove the sin nature we are born with from Adam, Adamic nature, and give us a new nature, a Holy nature. In Him you get the Holiness required to be received by God. When you get ‘born’ again, you surrender our Adamic nature and exchange it with the new Holy nature that only Jesus Christ can give. It is not only what you do but mainly who you are that God is after. The Adamic nature ( life before salvation ) leads to sinful deeds. You are geared to doing what the Adamic nature in you is inclined to doing. Jesus came to reverse all that.
And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved. - Acts 2:21 (NKJV)
And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved. - Joel 2:32 (NKJV)
… whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. - Romans 10:13 (NKJV)
Now, God has provided a way out of the devastation of eternal death. How do we come out of it? How do we access Jesus?
Jesus said;
I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. - John 14:6 (NKJV)
The scriptures above in Acts 2, Joel 2 and Romans 10 speak of a requirement for us. We are to call on the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is our Saviour. Saving us from the sin nature, a nature inclined to do evil and rebel against God.
How do we call? By responding to God when He informs us of our fallenness through Adam and Eve and our need of the Saviour Jesus Christ.
This is how we do it:
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. - Romans 10:9 (NKJV)
First: admit you are a sinner
Second: believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who died on the Cross for your sin and rose again so you can be saved.
Third: confess Him as your Personal Saviour.
Fourth: Go to a Bible believing church and explain what you have just done and they will help you with starting a new journey in Christ.
We love you and hope this has been helpful to you.
In The Lord’s Service.
